She is juse a woman-- figuring out life, just like me.
In 2017, I found myself facing my greatest fear. My college journey felt pointless when I discovered I had failed out of my final two classes and wouldn't be earning my degree. I remember sitting with my mother, broken and in tears, telling her the news. Her response was firm: I had to keep going—and that was all she said. At the time, I was upset with her, but years later she explained that she had been so resolute because she saw my faith wavering. At that moment, I was falling apart, feeling forgotten by God.
Throughout my life, my mom has always been my biggest supporter. When I didn't love myself, she stood by me, loving me and reminding me of who I truly was. When I felt like I was falling behind in life, she gave me the guidance to take steps toward improvement. And when I was afraid to step out of my comfort zone, she supported me in every way possible to help me move forward.
For years, I had seen my mom through a very narrow lens... until one day, I sat across from her, not as a little girl, but as a woman. In that moment, I saw her not just as my mother, but as a woman in her own right, navigating life just as I was. The little girl inside of me faded away, and the woman I had become realized something I had never noticed before.
She is just a woman—figuring out life, just like me. She has experienced love, divorce, the loss of her father and sister, and the joy of becoming a grandmother. She walks through the highs and lows of life, still learning, growing, and still loving. It was at that moment that I realized she wasn't meant to be perfect or have all the answers, and this understanding freed me from the box I had placed her in all these years.
She is my mother, my friend, my encourager, my confidant, and my sister in Christ.
Ladies, take this to heart: cherish your mother while she’s still here. Be the first to love, the first to forgive, and the first to reach out. Don’t wait for the perfect moment—make the moments count. Because we all are just walking each other home.

Thank you for this! What touched me, was that I should be the first to reach out🙏 We have conflicts but don't leave it hanging. Address it and continue to create more magical moments with them while they still around. ❤️❤️
