A few months ago I laid in bed one night battling with my comfort zone. See, I am what they call a workaholic, and many times I don’t believe I deserve a break or a vacation. As I realized that it's been over a year since my last sabbatical, I knew God was calling me to a PAUSE. However, I began looking at all my upcoming projects and bills and quickly talked myself out of it.
However, days went by and this idea to just book a 3-night stay at an Airbnb and go lock-in with the Lord was heavy on me. I kept going back and forth with it until a friend of mine reached out to me about having an extra ticket for a 3-day conference. So pretty much even when I was fighting it, God was working.
The following day, I booked the Airbnb and realized that I desperately needed a pause. We see in the book of Psalms “Selah”, which means to pause. I have realized day after day that there is power in pausing.
When you pause before you say a harsh word.
When you pause before you make a major decision.
Pause when you find yourself in really tight places in life. The pause is really just another way of saying “Let go”.
It took me letting go and being open to what God needed me to do. Now I know that deciding to pause will be powerful. I know it will replenish me. I know it will increase my faith. I know it will give me clarity for the future. I know it will release me from the things I’ve been carrying.
Taking a pause can be scary, but you will never know what God truly has in store for you if you don’t decide to pause and let go. Remember, Jesus went somewhere alone and paused with God, and there are times and seasons of our lives when we need to do just that more than ever.
There is Power in the Pause!
