Fasting is the Key to Breakthrough

I lit a candle and sat in pure quiet, wondering how to explain the profoundness of fasting. How do I express the vastness of healing, revelation, and breakthrough? How can I even come close to describing God's awesomeness and what we experience individually in fasting?

I sat with a blank page, baffled. Do I share with them how that one time in college while working at On the Border I fasted three days and three nights, only drinking water? And God honored that fast because I received a call from my chemistry professor by the end. They expressed having a scholarship for a science student, and my name came up. Or do I speak about the time I prayed and fasted for 19 days, drinking only water, which launched my YouTube© career? Or the time while fasting and praying I broke out speaking in tongues and crying? Or another time while on a fast I had an awakening to the love of God and received healing?

I’ve had many experiences with fasting, and even when I fell short, even when I felt like I didn’t pray enough, read enough, or fast long enough, God still left me speechless with His goodness. I hope you see that our breakthrough is often attached to what we are willing to sacrifice for those days of fasting and prayer. Fasting from food, social media, endless scrolling, drinking, smoking, and sex can be difficult, but what you gain from the sacrifice is worth it. Fasting means abstaining from a certain type of food and/or activity. Fasting is your key to breakthrough.

Can’t get past that setback? Fast

Struggling with moving forward? Fast

Still can’t forgive that person? Fast

Living the same year twice? Fast

Struggling with making decisions? Fast

Endless scrolling and letting life pass you by? Fast

Can’t get past your health struggles? Fast

My dear sister in Christ, praying and fasting will break you free, detox your body, give you the clarity you’ve been missing, and heal you from the inside out. Don’t overlook the amazing tool we have in the power of fasting.

Weekly Scripture
