Are You Planted?

I needed to let go of my fears and trust that God wanted to use this message to minister.

I was recently asked to speak at this small country church. It was an older crowd, but filled with so much laughter and joy. I watched women from different walks of life still come together to fellowship with God and others. My message was, “Are You Planted”? Honestly, I wondered if it wasn’t right for this crowd because so many had been in church for so long. Many were grandmothers. However, I needed to let go of my fears and trust that God wanted to use this message to minister.
Planted means to put a seed in the ground, or a fixed, specific position. I realized that God wanted that for us. To be in a fixed position with Him no matter the storms of life, the losses, the gains, or the seasons, but to know that we are planted. Next, I realized that planted wasn’t just a position, but it was a mindset of faith, like when David lost his first child. He wept, prayed, and fasted. He then got up, cleaned himself up, and worshiped God. He was planted!

Or, like Esther, who was the Queen and was living a pretty comfortable life. When her people were going to be exiled, she called for three days of fasting and praying before she went into the king's quarters. She was planted!
Or like me, when I failed out of college, I had just launched my ministry, and now I felt behind in life. I felt overlooked. I felt like the one who was always missing out. In those years, I learned faith and resilience. Two years later, my ministry was growing, I moved to a new city, started working on my degree again, and watched God turn my life around. I learned that staying planted in your faith and beliefs will be your biggest test of faith, but don’t waiver, don’t throw in the towel, or turn your back on God. Don’t say, “My way is better”. Don’t leave the House of the Lord. Even when you fall, be sure to stay near the House. Stay planted in God's redeeming love, Sister.
Weekly Scripture
" Planted in the house of the Lord,
they will flourish in the courts of our God. They will still bear fruit in old age,
they will stay fresh and green,"
Psalm 92:13-14
